A TOURIST from Basingstoke who survived the Ecuador bus crash that killed five young Britons has spoken about the tragedy.
Richard Winter, 37, said the members of the group were missing the five women who died on Saturday when the bus in which they were travelling collided with a lorry.
Speaking at a press conference in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, Mr Winter said: "We've been helping each other through it.
"We're hoping to leave tomorrow and get back to our families. But that doesn't mean we won't come back to Ecuador.
"We've been treated really well. All the people here have been terrific.
"We miss our friends. We were only with them two weeks but we were really close."
Gap-year students Rebecca Logie, Emily Sadler, Lizzie Pincock - all aged 19 - plus 18-year-old gap-year student Indira Swann and freelance tour guide Sarah Howard, 26, died in the crash.
The tour was booked by gap-year tour company Venture Co, which has launched an investigation. Ecuadorian police are hunting for the driver of the lorry involved.
