WORK to update street lights in Overton could begin soon.
Villagers were given an update on Hampshire County Council’s upgrading project at the annual parish meeting, and heard that it is ahead of schedule and should be complete by the end of this year.
Julian Higgins, a representative from HCC, said that the conservation area of Overton will receive special and “tasteful” heritage lights.
He added: “A central management system will automatically dim street lights by 25 per cent between 10pm and midnight, and a further 25 per cent between midnight and 5am, again significantly cutting energy use.”
