FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze which saw two cars alight in front of a house in Basingstoke in the early hours of this morning.
Ten firefighters were called to reports of a 4x4 vehicle and a saloon car on fire outside a property in Harrow Way at around 4am this morning and took around 45 minutes to put the fire out.
Crew manager Nigel Cowen, at Basingstoke fire station, told The Gazette that the fire has caused damage to the property’s fascias and drainpipes.
The incident is thought to be a suspected arson attack and police are currently investigating the incident.
No-one was hurt.
A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary that they were investigating the incident, adding: "Officers were notified shortly after 4am that a fire started in one of the cars and spread to the other and also caused minor damage to the property outside of which they were parked.
"At this time it is believed the fire was started deliberately."
