AN INTERESTING letter in last week's Gazette concerning the poor standard of policing.

This is not new and is not the fault of the front-line police, who do their best but are poorly led.

The problem started when it was decided to recruit graduates, with no policing experience, and 'fast-track' them into top management positions.

They were inevitably left-leaning liberals, who decided that people did not commit crimes because they were wicked. It was because they were disadvantaged by the system, and therefore it was not their fault.

So we have the police who don't really want to catch criminals, and if they do the judiciary doesn't want to punish them.

One example of this 'progressive policing' is 'shoplifting'. Police will not attend a crime, if the goods taken are worth less than £200. How can the police do this? Our PCC is Donna Jones, I would love to know if she agrees with this, is it her official policy?

The top echelon of the police needs sacking. Promote officers with experience and bring in ex-military personnel to fill the gaps.
