A BROTHER and sister fled after a man approached them in the street.
The incident happened as an 11-year-old girl and her six-year-old brother walked along Tasmania Close, Popley, at around 5.50pm on Saturday, March 13.
A man spoke to the children as they reached the junction with Montserrat Place.
He then held out his arm, but the girl grabbed her brother and they ran home.
Officers are treating the incident as suspicious.
The man is described as Asian, aged between 18 and 28-years-old, with short, black hair and stubble. He wore a black jacket and black trousers.
Detective Constable Pete Hanson, of Basingstoke CID, appealed for witnesses.
He added: “We would remind parents to encourage their children not to talk to strangers and contact us if there are any suspicious incidents.”
Anyone with information can contact Det Con Hanson at Basingstoke police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
