HARTLEY Wintney were crowned Combined Counties League Premier Division champions, after they won at Westfield 2-0 on Tuesday night.
The Row have looked by far the best team in the division and clinched the crown as they reached 100 points and with two games remaining.
Hartley’s latest success was league win number 32 of their campaign and followed up their biggest victory of the season after they beat Raynes Park 10-0 on Saturday.
Steven Duff scored the Row’s first goal at Westfield with an excellent 25-yard strike three minutes before half-time and then Ross Cook made sure of the win as combined with leading scorer Sam Argent.
However, the champions did not have all their own way as the home side hit the bar three times and Craig Atkinson made some fine saves.
At the final whistle there were great celebrations from the village side and capped a great season for the team under the guidance of joint managers Anthony Millerick and Dan Brownlie.
In addition to the league crown Hartley had a fantastic run in the FA Vase where they started at the first qualifying round and saw them reach the fifth round proper, where they lost to Hereford, who are red hot favourites to win the competition.
The Row also had a great FA Cup campaign which started in the extra preliminary round and saw them reach the third qualifying round losing out only to an added time goal to National League South side Eastbourne Borough.
A delighted joint manager Brownlie said: “It’s an amazing feeling and I couldn’t be prouder of what our boys have achieved.
“They are a very special group of players. A squad of incredibly gifted individuals that have united to make a terrific side in a relatively short space of time. It’s been one hell of a journey and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it.
He added: “The boys are a credit to themselves, the village and this incredible club. 100 points, FA Cup giant killers, FA Vase history makers, most goals scored in the league, best defensive record. Quite simply, Champions.”
Hartley wrap up their league campaign with a home game on Monday (1pm) against Camberley, while on Saturday they travel to Spelthorne Sports.
