BASINGSTOKE & DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL BASINGSTOKE AND DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL COMMUNITY GOVERNANCE REVIEW (SHERFIELD-ON-LODDON PARISH)

BASINGSTOKE & DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL BASINGSTOKE AND DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL COMMUNITY GOVERNANCE REVIEW (SHERFIELD-ON-LODDON PARISH)
Section 96 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 (hereinafter referred to as the 2007 Act) provides that a principal council must publish the decisions (and provide reasons for those decisions) made in any Community Governance Review. Notice is hereby given that at an extraordinary meeting of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council on 26 March 2015 it was resolved that as of 1 April 2016;
Sherfield on Loddon parish is to be altered by the separation of the
Taylor's Farm parish ward from the parish;
Sherfield on Loddon parish shall have eight parish councillors;
A new un-warded parish and parish council is to be created (for the
separated Taylor's Farm parish ward) to be named Sherfield Park Parish
Council and shall have seven parish councillors with the ordinary year of
elections to be 2016.
The decision to carry out a Community Governance Review was triggered by a written request by the parish council seeking to alter the current parish arrangements. Following two rounds of public consultation (June 2014 and December 2014) the principal council considered that the recommendations proposed by the Community Governance Review reflects the identities and interests of the community in that area, and is effective and convenient.
The Council proposes to make a Reorganisation Order in exercise of the
powers conferred by section 86 of the 2007 Act so as to give effect to
the above decision from 1 April 2016. A further notice will be published in
due course once the Reorganisation Order has been made.
A copy of the Council Report and minutes of that meeting will also be
accessible on the Council's website.
