THE BASINGSTOKE AND DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) (NORN HILL) ORDER 2014
Notice is hereby given that Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council pursuant to arrangements made under Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972 with Hampshire County Council in exercise of the powers of the said County Council and in exercise of the powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act"), and of all other enabling powers, has made the following Order:-
Reason for Order: The Council are satisfied that traffic on the road should be restricted or prohibited because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road. Effect of Order: All traffic will be prohibited from travelling along Norn Hill railway bridge as directed by traffic signs. The closure is to allow for a detailed railway bridge examination to take place. The restrictions on the Norn Hill/Gresley Road junction preventing right and left turns, will be lifted for the duration of the works.
Duration of Order: The order will come into effect on 27th January 2014 for 3 months. (Notwithstanding the above it is expected the closure will be for approximately one day only)
Alternative Route: For northbound traffic - From Eastrop Roundabout travel eastwards on A3010 Churchill Way East then turn left onto A339 Ringway East. Travel northwards then turn left onto the A33 Reading Road Roundabout. For Oakridge take the 2nd exit from roundabout or for Daneshill take the 5th exit from roundabout. For southbound traffic - From A33 Reading Road Roundabout take the southbound entry slip road onto A339 Ringway East or from Daneshill Roundabout take slip road from Gresley Road onto A339 Ringway East. Travel southwards on A339 and turn left via exit slip onto A3010 Churchill Way East. Then travel westwards to Eastrop Roundabout. Take 1st exit for town centre, 3rd exit for other destinations or 5th exit for Basing View, as indicated by traffic signs.
