THE BASINGSTOKE AND DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) (A30 LONDON ROAD) ORDER 2014
Notice is hereby given that Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council pursuant to arrangements made under Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972 with Hampshire County Council in exercise of the powers of the said County Council and in exercise of the powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act"), and of all other enabling powers, has made the following Order:-
Reason for Order: The Council are satisfied that traffic on the road should be restricted or prohibited because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road
Effect of Order: All traffic will be prohibited from travelling along the A30 London Road Eastbound and Westbound: From its intersection with Black Dam Roundabout to a point west of its junction with Redbridge Lane to allow the safe installation of an overhead gantry sign as part of Black Dam Roundabout Improvement works. The exemptions under S 87 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and The Road traffic exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and amendment) Regulations 2011 will apply to the order.
Duration of Order: The order comes into effect on 1 October 2014 for 9 months (notwithstanding it is expected the closure will be overnight between 8pm and 6am for 7 nights during that period).
Alternative Route: A30 London Road Eastbound Traffic Diversion: Traffic wishing to exit onto A30 London Road from Black Dam Roundabout will be diverted on M3 Junction 6 Spur Road southbound to M3 Junction 6 then M3 eastbound to M3 Junction 5 then A287 Hook Common westbound to A30 London Road.
A30 London Road Westbound Traffic Diversion: Traffic wishing to use Black Dam Roundabout from A30 London Road will be diverted from A30 London Road to A287 Hook Common southbound to M3 Junction 5 then M3 westbound to M3 Junction 6 then M3 Junction 6 Spur Road northbound to Black Dam Roundabout.
Local diversion(s) will be in place for non-motorway traffic.
