THE countdown is on for Basingstoke’s inaugural Entrepreneur Roadshow.
It is set to take place on Thursday January 31 at Business Environment’s ViewPoint building on Basing View.
The service office provider will play host to a day tailored to helping budding entrepreneurs take the leap to start up their own business and leave behind their nine to five jobs.
Basingstoke is a hub of entrepreneurial spirit, with a surge in company registrations in 2012 and the Entrepreneur Roadshow has been designed to help and inform those wanting to ‘fire their bosses’ and become part of the dynamic new business scene.
An all-female cast of business leaders share their experiences past and present during a series of speaker sessions, while over 30 businesses will hold stands to help with ideas, business planning, funding, legal issues, marketing and much more. Business Environment managing director David Saul, said: :“We’re pleased to be hosting the very first Entrepreneur Roadshow at our Basingstoke offices.
“The speaker line up is first-rate and I’m sure attendees will gain some invaluable tips on setting a business.”
Michelle Rodger, chief executive officer at Bloom – a Crowdfunding venture capital service business helping charities and entrepreneurs to raise capital – will give practical advice on finance and capital.
Similarly, Agnes Cserharti, serial entrepreneur and founder of AC PowerCoaching, who won her first Entrepreneur Award aged just 19, will also take the floor to help inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.
“I’ve had incredibly successful businesses and I’ve also had failed businesses so it’s really important to me to share the lessons I learned along the way,” said Michelle..
Agnes Cserharti added: “I started my first business at the age of 17 and 22 years later still love every second of being an entrepreneur.
“My mission is to inspire you to do the same.”
Basingstoke’s leading poet and comedian Jan Jack, who has a great track record in being a popular and engaging speaker, will also feature, giving a witty and intelligent presentation that will ignite the imagination of those who have been with the same employer for a number of years: "I just want to show people that even if they've been sitting behind a desk for 30 years there's still time to do something they love."
Linda Cheung, chief executive officer of CubeSocial, who recently made the jump from corporate company in the City to creating her own UK start-up here in Basingstoke, will also to share her experiences.
Linda said: “I created CubeSocial right here in Basingstoke. I’m really excited to contribute to this event and help keen entrepreneurs.”
The first Basingstoke Entrepreneur Roadshow is being organised by Yes You Can Events and is sponsored by BE Offices and Dream Idea.
