BRIGHT Start Pre-school: I visited the pre-school at Brighton Hill Community Association on November 15.

Children were anticipating a visit by Pudsey Bear. They were also preparing for a Christmas cake sale, starting on December 4, at lunchtimes for one week.

Children produced crackers as well as stockings for Santa Claus.

A party, including a wizard, is planned for December 13.

On Friday, November 17, there was a pyjama party and Pudsey Bear arrived with a young lady from ASDA.

Everyone from the pre-school wore pyjamas.

A yellow-robed Pudsey entered and shook hands with the children, who said hello to the friendly bear.

Pudsey moved across the room to choose the best picture in the colouring competition. Under the pictures were coins collected for the Children in Need fund.

Winning the prize was Katy, who received a big cuddly giraffe. Her contribution showed an orange Pudsey with a purple scarf.

Pudsey then said thank you, before saying goodbye.

VIABLES Craft Centre: At the fair on November 12, train rides were offered by the Model Engineering Society. Further opportunities to ride will be on December 3 and March 4.

The bull pens were open, offering wood turning, and gold and silver jewellery from Petra.

Jeanette also engages in gold and silver crafts.

I observed Pauline Pepper's work as a textile artist. She showed young people how to make felt pictures.

To begin, strands of wool were placed on a tray in a pattern. Water and soap were added and pressure applied.
