VILLAGE Christmas tree: Switch-on at 5pm, on Sunday, December 6, outside the Calleva Arms.
A couple of carols will be sung, and there will be a bucket collection for the Air Ambulance. Father Christmas hopes to be in attendance on his return from the Motor Bike Toy Run.
CHRISTINGLE service in church: on Advent Sunday, December 6. Note the change of time to 3.15pm and not in school this year.
No 10am service. All children will be given a Christingle orange and there will be a collection for the Children’s Society.
ACTION for Children: The annual coffee morning and bring-and-buy-sale is on Saturday, December 5, from 10am to noon in Silchester Methodist Church Hall.
Please come along and support this 140-year-old charity.
DEDICATION of chalice, paten and ciborium: Took place in church last Sunday, given in memory of Noreen Smith. Sixteen members of her family joined the congregation.
Also, at the end of the service, members of the congregation “stirred a pudding” to celebrate Stir Up Sunday.
PHOENIX Club: Takes place on Wednesday, December 2, at 2pm.
Please note, we will be in the main hall for the visit of Silchester School Choir followed by a special tea.
CONGRATULATIONS: To Katie Walker, in Year 3 at Silchester School, whose drawing is on the cover of the December/January magazine.
Well done to her and the 127 children who submitted a drawing for this competition.
