LAST week: The grand turn on of the lights went very well. The weather was cold but dry, and about 800 residents attended.
Much money was spent at the various stalls and entertainment was provided by Mr Crimbo, a stilt walker, a juggler, Park House School Jazz Band, Hurst Singers, Tadley Band and Boundary Players.
Councillor Jo Slimin wished everyone a happy Christmas and thanked those who had organised this year’s event. Sir George Young MP also spoke and, as he said, Christmas starts here. The lights were turned on by Jamie Rickers, who is playing Buttons in Cinderella at The Anvil. This year, there are also lights on the lighting columns down part of Mulfords Hill.
CONCERT: The Tadley Band, under musical director Gordon Leask, presents “A Christmas Concert” at the Ambrose Allen Centre, in Franklin Avenue on Thursday, December 17, at 8pm.
Admission is £2.50 at the door, accompanied children under 16 free.

ON A very sad note: Terry Margetts passed away last week. Terry worked very hard for the town in lots of different ways. He produced many professional posters and leaflets for all types of events (council and charity) and helped in the town design statement helping its publication.
He was also a trustee of the allotments and driver for the Ambrose Allen Centre.
Some years ago he received a Good Citizen award from Tadley Town Council for all the work he had done for the town. Our thoughts go to his wife and family.
