CHRISTMAS cheer: Filled the Memorial Hall last Saturday, as nearly 100 people enjoyed the annual Christmas Fair – thanks go to Caroline Cazenove and all those who worked so hard to organise another successful event and those who most generously donated items for the various stalls.
The craft stall was laden with amazing creative gifts and decorations and cards – the produce stall boasted an array of delicious items and the tombola tables were laden with prizes. It was certainly an opportunity to do some Christmas shopping at the lovely gift stall or to buy a hand-made Christmas pudding.
Shirley Colman correctly guessed the weight of the beautiful Christmas cake made by Celia Lunn and several lucky people won a bottle of whisky ensuring they had some Christmas spirit!
The children were entertained by a number of activities on their very own children’s stall where they searched for Santa on an amazing colourful map of the world, bought reindeer food and dug deep into an enormous red sack to find early Christmas gifts.
Of course, no Christmas event in Ellisfield would be complete without the social aspect and the delicious teas and mince pies organised by Beverley Guinness and Zani Robinson ensured this.
The atmosphere was terrific – it really was a lovely, timeless village event and I understand a good deal was raised for St Martin’s Church and Memorial Hall funds.
PARISH council: Meets on Monday, at Ellisfield Memorial Hall at 7.30pm; on the agenda is next year’s budget and precept.
