THE Advent season: Has now begun and St Mary's Church is open daily, providing a tranquil setting for prayer and contemplation as a counterpoint to what can often be a hectic and stressful time.
Today’s Pram Service begins at 2.15pm, for preschool children and parents or carers. The theme is, of course, “Christmas”
with Bible stories, crafts, music and refreshments.
Saturday, December 19, welcomes men of all ages to the Men’s Breakfast Group, from 8.45am to 10am in the Parish Room for good food and fellowship.
Sunday, December 20, brings the Community Carol Service at 4pm, so join in with your favourite carols and enjoy Christmas music and readings.
The Christingle Service will not be held until Sunday, January 10. If your children have not been to this beautiful service, which celebrates the light of Jesus Christ coming into the world, do please come along. My son still gleefully remembers trying to set alight his little sister’s plaits more than 20 years ago!
OLD Basing Art Group: Holds this year’s final meeting on Monday, from 2pm to 4pm, this being the Christmas party. The weekly meetings begin again on Monday, January 11. Contact Iris Machin on 352881 or Irene Allaway on 358053 to become a member.
