NATIVITY Service: This coming Sunday, the service at Immanuel Church will be a Nativity Service. It starts at 10am at the Church Centre, in Danebury Road.
FILLING station: Sainsbury’s has submitted a planning application to improve the filling station at its store in Hatch Warren.
The planning application is BDB/71605. The proposal is to change the kiosk layout to allow more customers to be served at the same time.
This involves a marginal reduction in floor space for the shop. Sainsbury’s also plan to replace the underground storage tanks with double-skinned ones that are safer for the environment.
The firm is not saying that the current tanks are in danger of leaking, but want to replace them with more modern ones before any problem develops. The fuel pumps will be replaced with new ones on different islands, laid out to lessen congestion. There will be a new canopy too.
There is an accompanying application for new advertising signs.
ROUNDABOUT: During the recent wet weather, the Brighton Hill Roundabout has been flooded near the Western Way and Winchester Road exits and this has been causing drivers to swerve out of lane. For Hatch Warren residents, this is a hazard to be aware of during rainstorms.
CAROL concert: Hatch Warren Junior School is holding its fifth outdoor Carol Concert on Monday, December 14, at 6pm.
Afterwards, everyone is welcome to warm up indoors with a drink and a mince pie.
There is something special, I think, about open-air events at Christmas.
