WI: THIS month’s meeting is a week early, because of Christmas. So it will be today, at the village hall, from 7.30pm as usual.

Tracy will be playing carols on her organ, and the competition is for a hand-made Christmas decoration.

Visitors, as always, are most welcome.

THE Basingstoke Astronomical Society’s monthly meeting: Takes place today also. This month’s meeting offers an exciting opportunity to view all of the night’s astronomical activity from Clanfield Observatory.

PANTOMIME: It really is panto time – performances are taking place at the village hall this Friday and Saturday evenings, and there will be a Saturday matinee. Tickets have sold very well, but I believe there are still a few left, so fill your boots.

Friday’s performance begins at 8pm, but doors (and more importantly, bars) open at 7.30pm, so time to get a couple of pints on board beforehand.

The matinee is at 2.30pm (doors and bars open at 2pm). On Saturday evening, the bar – sorry, doors! – open at a bonanza 6.45pm, with carols at 7pm and the performance at 8pm. Tickets are still £7.50 for adults and free for under-16s.

COFFEE morning: It remains only to remind you of the coffee morning at the hall on Monday, from 10.30am to noon, and the whist drive, also in the hall, takes place at 6.45pm on Thursday, December 17.

NOTE for diaries: Nine lessons and carols at St Leonard’s on Friday, December 18. Further details next week.
