ENTER a new flash fiction competition inspired by Pride and Prejudice’s birthday milestone and your story could be printed in The Gazette!
Jess Hanslip, who takes the creative writing class at Basingstoke Discovery Centre (BDC) in Festival Place, would like to invite anyone aged 16 or over to take part. All you have to do is to write a 200 word ‘Flash Fiction’ short story on any of the following three titles: How I Got Jane Austen’s Autograph; Pride and Prejudice – An Alternate Ending; or Conversations Overheard at the Double Bennett Wedding.
Your story could be based on the novel Pride and Prejudice or come from your own life experiences - or wishful thinking!
The competition is open to any writers working, studying or living in Hampshire. In addition to publication in The Gazette, the prize includes a £20 voucher for CDs and/or DVDs. The winning story will also be displayed at BDC over Easter alongside selected additional competition entries.
Paper entries should be sent to Jess Hanslip at Basingstoke Discovery Centre, 19/20 Westminster House, Festival Place, Basingstoke, Hants RG 21 7LS, including your name, address and phone number on the reverse. Alternatively, email your entry, along with all of the same details and subject headed P&P Flash Fiction competition, to jess.hanslip@hants.gov.uk.
The closing date is Monday, February 25. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
