FOLLOWING last year’s inaugural CarFest events which raised nearly £1million for the BBC’s Children in Need appeal, including £90,000 from two classic car auctions by Silverstone Auctions, the team will once again be holding two sales at this year’s CarFest events.
The first charity lot has already been consigned – a 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 Roadster, which has been fully rebuilt at a cost of more than £100,000 by marque specialists Vicarage Ltd. The entire proceeds from the sale, including the auction premium, will be donated to the charity.
There’s also a twist to this year’s sale proceedings. While all makes of classic cars are being invited for consideration into the auction, there will also be four distinct sections to excite the crowds further. The separate themes are ‘Best of British’, ‘Porsche 911 at 50’, ‘Hot Hatches’ and ‘American Idols’, giving buyers an amazing selection of cars to choose from.
The auctions are set to be one of the highlights of the weekend motoring festivals which take place for the first time at Oulton Park in Cheshire from August 2-4 and at Laverstoke Park Farm from August 23-25.
