THE first night of the exciting new collaboration between live music promoter Cartermusic and Basingstoke's Bar Rock, entitled Live at the Rock, takes place this week.
Live at the Rock, on Thursday, January 10, will showcase an eclectic mix of genres including Urban and Hip Hop, Jazz-funk and Soul, Blues, Reggae and Ska, and aims to give the live music appreciator an alternative to rock, indie and punk.
Thursday Soul Kitchen at Basingstoke’s Live at The Rock will be cooking up some seriously soulful and funky grooves just for you, featuring live music from the town’s very own B-Funkt from 7.30pm.
B-Funkt have caused quite a stir locally with their dynamic live performances and showcase the best of Basingstoke's soul, funk and jazz musicians with many years of experience between them. Bringing you the best classic and rare-groove soul, funk and R&B, you can expect to hear songs we all know and love from Incognito, Stevie Wonder, JTQ, Curtis Mayfield, Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies, Carl Anderson and Donnie Hathaway to name a few.
Providing inter-band entertainment at Thursday Soul Kitchen is Nick Hart and Ian ‘the Guv’nor’ Hurford, who have been DJing together for the last seven years in and around the local area. They have become synonymous with Basingstoke Scooter Club events and the boys have become renowned for their exquisite taste in Northern Soul and ‘60s RnB.
Individually, they have worked with bands and artists such as Geno Washington, The Lambrettas and DJs such as Graham Gold and Pete Tong back in the day.
Also featured during the acoustic hour in Bar Rock’s Cherry Lounge will be urban acoustic soul artist Dannymac and up and coming young soul diva Aeysha.
Grab your dancing shoes and get on down to Thursday Soul Kitchen at Bar Rock on Winchester Street. Doors open at 7.30pm and entry is free.
