A SCHEME to upgrade a water main in Chineham has been postponed.
South East Water was due to start the £148,000 project, which would have seen 665 metres of new water main installed around the A33 Crockford Roundabout and in Crockford Lane, on January 7.
James Smith, delivery manager for South East Water, said: “Although it is important that this water main is upgraded to reduce the likelihood of any future bursts, it is essential we do it with as minimal an impact on the local community as possible.
“We are currently working with Hampshire County Council regarding the timing of the work and any traffic management requirements, as well as looking again at the route of the new water main. As soon as a new start date has been scheduled, we will provide further information.”
The scheme is part of the company’s £390million programme of investment in improvements from 2010 to 2015.
