AN EXHIBITON of children’s photography raised more than £700 for a Hartley Wintney school.
Scores of parents visited the exhibition at Greenfields Junior School, in Green Lane, to view more than 400 photographs taken by pupils.
The school ran a six-week project in digital photography for all pupils at the school, and each child had their two best photographs on display and for sale in the school hall.
Rachel Riley, inclusion manager at the school, said: “Despite the fact that it was dreadful weather, we were packed out and parents were queuing to get into the hall.”
The children attended weekly classes during the course, looking at how to take pictures, the use of filters and the etiquette of taking photographs in public.
Paul Sanders, a former picture editor at The Times newspaper, and photography students at Farnborough Sixth Form College, came in to the school to give advice.
The pupils were also given digital cameras by Fujifilm and the photos were printed by Fleet’s Fun Foto Factory .
Miss Riley added: “We have found it to be a great, creative project.”
Pupils on the school council will decide what to do with the money raised from the exhibition.
