AMATEUR musicians in Hampshire are being invited to bid for a share of this year’s round of Dayas Music Scholarships, an annual grants scheme administered by Hampshire County Council.
The scheme was set up with money left by a former Hampshire teacher, Mrs Hayton (nee Dayas), in her will.
Councillor Ken Thornber, leader of Hampshire County Council said: “These music scholarships give the chance for people above school age to seek support for new musical interests.
“The application process is all dealt with in writing so there need be no audition fears – this is not The X Factor.”
Application forms and further details are available from the county council’s music service on 023 8065 2037 or by emailing music.service@hants.gov.uk.
The closing date for applications to be submitted is January 31.
