Sir.–I am writing on behalf of the NSPCC in Hampshire to thank your readers for their support over the last 12 months.
The NSPCC relies heavily on the support of local people in order to provide our services for children and their families, and we really do appreciate the efforts that people go to, especially in such a challenging financial climate.
Last year was a really exciting time for the NSPCC as we launched our new ChildLine Schools Service.
The service is aiming to visit every primary school by 2016, educating nine to 11-year-olds about abuse and where to go to for help. In addition, our service centre in Hampshire has been delivering innovative new services in the county which focus on children in care, physical abuse in high risk families and children vulnerable to neglect.
Sadly, we can’t provide vital services like this without the ongoing support of local people, and I would like to ask your readers when thinking about their New Year resolutions, to consider supporting the NSPCC.
One very simple way to support us could be through staging a ‘Stop for Tea’ event.
More than 165 million cups of tea are enjoyed in the UK every day and staging a ‘Stop for Tea’ tea party to raise money couldn’t be easier.
Details can be found at www.nspcc.org.uk/getinvolved.
Anyone wishing to find out more about the NSPCC or how they can support us, including through the ideas above, should contact their local fundraising team on 01293 651840 or log on to www.nspcc.org.uk.
–Mandy Finch, NSPCC community fundraising manager.
