A NEW project has been launched to protect wildlife habitats in north-west Hampshire.
Winning Ways for Wildlife will work with land owners and farmers to improve and restore important wildlife habitats.
The three-year partnership between Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, Butterfly Conservation, and Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust, is being supported by Natural England, DCLG and DEFRA.
Some of the most threatened wildlife will be targeted by the project, which will also look at ways of improving and enhancing local woodland and chalk grassland for new habitats.
Landowners and farmers who are interested can seek advice, and funding can be provided to help eligible projects.
Volunteers can get involved with species surveys and mapping of wildlife.
Spring surveys are being planned to identify key species and areas for improvement, and a workshop for those who would like to help will take place on Saturday, March, 16.
