THE Business Unit at BCOT has successfully delivered six bespoke training sessions for CHOICE care group this year.
Government legislation now dictates that all employees within the care sector are suitably trained in all relevant areas of health and safety and food safety in order to provide the best level of care for all service users.
Sarah Miles-Smith, an experienced business trainer within the unit, developed and delivered one day and half-day tailor-made sessions for CHOICE employees, at venues where they could focus on their training away from the hustle and bustle of their own working environment.
New CHOICE employees welcomed the opportunity of learning about health and safety and manual handling techniques while more long-serving staff valued the chance to update their skills.
Practical risk assessment sessions were particularly welcomed, with students working together in order to assess and control particular hazards within their respective care homes.
Food safety training provided good student interaction and generated many questions about how their workplaces could benefit from the new knowledge gained.
Live case-study scenario sessions provided healthy debate!
All course attendees were presented with certificates which enhanced their continued professional development portfolios.
The overriding success of the training programme, however, was due to the enjoyability factor for everyone involved.
As a student succinctly said, "a great style of delivery made for an interesting day and a fun way to learn".
