Sir.-Can anyone tell me the reason for the 30mph speed limit on the A33 dual carriageway between the Ring Road and Chineham Business Park?
No doubt it is a good way of raising money through speeding fines, as no one would ever expect a 30mph limit on this stretch of road.
I cannot understand what is going through the minds of the people who have imposed this limit on a dual carriageway with no housing and virtually no pedestrians.
It can only result in otherwise law-abiding citizens breaking the limit either by accident or as an act of demonstration.
Is there some rational explanation?
I have lived in the area since before the road was made dual carriageway and cannot recall a single accident.
The most likely result of this speed limit will surely be to drive people away from the main road and force them to use the back roads.
Can this restriction be removed before it results in an accident elsewhere?
