HEAVY RAIN has hit Basingstoke this afternoon causing localised flooding on roads and paths around the town.
The torrential downpour, which started at around 1.15pm this afternoon, had caused rainwater to build up on Winchester Road, leading up to the Brighton Hill Retail Park.
Water stretched across the road and footpath, causing motorists to slow down to avoid causing an accident or damaging their vehicles.
The downpour also caused motorists to slow down at Hackwood Road, near the Hackwood Road roundabout in Eastrop, Basingstoke.
Heavy rain also caused chaos at Homebase, in Winchester Road, Basingstoke with employees forced to sweep rainwater from the entrance to the store as water threatened to flow inside the store.
