NATHAN Smart, 29, from Basingstoke, plays for Basingtoke Town Football Club. He went to South View Infant and Junior schools, The Vyne Community School and then Queen Mary’s College.
He played youth football for Sherborne St John and Oakley and had spells at academies in Portsmouth and Swindon. He then joined Basingstoke Academy before moving on to men’s football at 17 with SR Basingstoke.
He signed for Fleet Town at 20, where he spent five years, before going on tour to Australia and then signing for Basingstoke FC.
1. Who was your childhood hero and why? Ian Wright – Arsenal legend and a striker, like I was at the time!
2. What is your most precious possession, and why is it important to you? Sadly, it’s my MacBook Pro, mainly because it contains lots of photos of friends and family.
3. What was the first record/CD you bought? Sash! – Encore Une Fois. It’s a classic!
4. What is the radio/television show you hate to miss? Game of Thrones.
5. What is your favourite film? There are a few but if I had to pick one, it would be Pulp Fiction.
6. What is your pet hate? Rudeness.
7. What are you reading at the moment? Not really a big reader but I’m actually reading Dan Brown’s Inferno.
8. If you were choosing a last meal, what would it be? Fillet steak – rare!
9. If you could meet anyone from history, who would it be? Martin Luther King.
10. If you had a time machine, where would it take you? Twenty years ago when the manager of a local Basingstoke side kindly turned down the chance of me joining Reading FC.
11. If you were stranded on a desert island, what luxury would you choose to have with you? iPhone and charger.
12. What sports team do you support? Arsenal.
13. What was your first job? Paperboy.
14. If you could take over someone’s job for the day, whose job would you choose? American President Barack Obama.
15. What worries you the most? Getting old.
16. What is your proudest moment? Scoring the 90th-minute winner in the Hampshire Cup final for Fleet Town.
17. What would you like your epitaph to be? Life’s short, enjoy it while you can.
18. What’s your guilty pleasure? Watching documentaries.
19. What one thing could change society for the better? If every criminal was caught and had to face the consequences of their actions.
20. What three words best describe you? Friendly, determined, passionate.
