KEEPING the borough’s streets tidy remains one of the most important council services for residents.
Collecting recycling and rubbish and cleaning and maintaining litter free streets in the borough were the services that residents felt were most important.
Ninety-seven per cent of people surveyed were satisfied with the waste and recycling collections – a figure which means that the borough council will continue to provide weekly refuse collections.
As reported by The Gazette, the borough council has also announced a crackdown on litter bugs in Top of The Town. Community Safety Patrol Officers are to start issuing fixed penalty notices of £75 to anyone they see littering.
In addition to litter, dealing with anti-social behaviour remains in the top three important services provided by the council.
