MOTORISTS are facing traffic chaos in Basingstoke this afternoon after a car caught fire on a slip road leading to a major Hampshire trunk road.
One fire crew from Basingstoke fire station was called to the A30 at the junction of the M3 where the car caught fire between the junction and Beggarwood Lane at about 1.25pm.
The car recieved siginificant damage and firefighters used oxgen masks and a hose reel to extinguish the flames.
It led to a queue of traffic as people came off the motorway heading into Basingstoke.
The road has now been cleared but motorists are warned that traffic is moving slowly.
