MOTOROLA Solutions’ staff are being relocated this week.
After more than three decades in the borough, employees are being moved to new offices in London.
It comes four months after the communications giant announced it was leaving Basingstoke – in a move which affected approximately 250 workers at the company.
Although the majority of staff will be leaving the premises, some members will continue to operate out of the office in Jays Close.
The company hopes the full move will be completed by the end of 2018.
A Motorola Solutions spokesperson said: “For more than 30-years Motorola Solutions has called Basingstoke home in the UK.
“We have started the process of moving our EMEA headquarters to central London, however parts of the Viables facility will remain operational for some time as staff will continue to work on projects at the facility, while others will transfer to our new London headquarters or other facilities within the UK.
“As a leader in missioncritical communications solutions, we support the emergency services in the UK and are deeply committed to our customers and employees.
“We are proud of our 90-year global company heritage and the role the Basingstoke facility has played over the last 30-years.”
In February, the American data communications and telecommunications provider became the third major employer in the borough to move its services away from the town, after energy firm SSE left Basingstoke in 2015, moving 600 jobs to Reading, and pharmaceutical company Shire quit last year, shifting 270 jobs to the capital.
The news led to a furious backlash from Cllr Paul Harvey, leader of Basingstoke Labour Group, who said it was “deeply concerning that jobs are under threat”.
But leader of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Cllr Clive Sander said the borough remained “a great place to do business”.
He added: “We will be looking at other interesting opportunities for Viables Business Park and elsewhere in the borough.”
