A FREE event designed to help people learn about the basics of first aid, online safety, road safety, fire safety and personal safety is set to be held.

The Think Safe event, organised by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, will see emergency services and others run fun scenarios to help individuals and families learn how to stay safe.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue, Hampshire Constabulary, council community safety officers, Network Rail, Relax Kids, Champs Academy and RCS will have stalls giving families the chance to learn more about the work they do and to pick up some top tips on staying safe.

There will also be craft activities available for the youngsters.

The event will be held at Aldworth School on Wednesday, 6 March from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in six different scenarios run by the organisations to see how they may react in a real-life emergency, and to learn how best to respond.

Cabinet member for communities and community safety Councillor Simon Bound said: “I think everyone will be able to learn something at this Think Safe event, and hopefully have some fun at the same time.

“Knowing how to stay safe, whether that’s on the roads, within your community, at home or online, is an important skill to teach our residents.”

The event is free to attend, with free parking and free food on offer served until 6.15pm.
