A NEW community radio station will soon be on the air in Basingstoke – and the team behind it is supporting Ark Day.
Helping Hands Community Radio (HHCR) will have its official launch on Monday, June 3, and it will play a big part in Ark Day on Friday, June 21.
The internet community radio station, which has received National Lottery funding support, will be featuring Ark Day events throughout the day, and will be encouraging listeners to get involved in and support the 24-hour fundraising drive for Ark Cancer Centre Charity.
Dave Chatten-Smith and Christine Rowley, pictured, are the driving forces behind the new station, which is based in The Roger Morris Centre, in Eastrop Way, and they are delighted to be supporting a community-wide campaign like Ark Day.
Dave and Christine said: “HHCR plans to stream a wide and varied range of programmes, including talk and music. It is run by enthusiasts with a passion for radio and a heart for the local community.
“We believe there is room for a dedicated local radio station that caters for the news, views, issues and interests of local people.
“The HHCR team are delighted to support Ark Day, and we look forward to broadcasting what is happening on the day and will also be encouraging local people to sign up and get involved.”
