A TALENTED Basingstoke mum has turned her hobby into a business after discovering a passion for photography.
Ewa Jones first realised her love of taking pictures after her husband gave her a camera as a present.
But her full time job as a project control engineer at Heathrow Airport meant she had no time to develop her interest further.
It was only after she had children and was on maternity leave that she found the time to pursue her interest in photography.
“I have always liked taking photographs,” she explained. “But I didn’t have the time to take it seriously. Since having children that’s changed, it changed my thinking about what’s important. I love taking photos of my girls because it’s important to have a keepsake and to show the girls how they looked when they were younger.”
The mother-of-two has since built up a family lifestyle photography business, taking candid and natural photos of families enjoying spending time together.
The 32-year-old, from Chineham, hopes to eventually run her business full time, and said: “In the long term that’s what I want to do, because it’s important to me to spend time with my girls and doing photography full time would allow me to do that, as I’d be managing my own time.”
Ewa already has a portfolio of stunning shots on her website, and hopes that her photos will speak for themselves when families are looking to book a photographer.
She explained that her style allows people to relax and enjoy their time together while she captures those precious moments, explaining: “I really enjoy the connection that families have and witnessing those special moments with new born babies or the love seen in a couple expecting their first baby. It’s a privilege to be part of that and to capture it forever in a photo.
“Each family is unique and it’s about showing that in my photos. It’s fun to be a part of.”
Ewa said that being a mum herself enables her to really understand how to get the best out of a photo shoot, and she has even produced a guide for families to help them through the session.
She said: “I understand how a family works, and my photo shoots aren’t forced. They are designed to be relaxed and fun, so even if someone hates having their photo taken, they will hopefully feel comfortable.”
She added: “As a mum of two little girls I know how quickly time goes by and how much we want our babies to stay babies. Photography is not just taking pictures but it’s capturing those precious moments you have with your family and remembering them for years to come.”
