STAFF at Great Binfields Primary School are finalising their plans for Ark Day, which falls on their school sports day.
Children at the school, in Binfields Farm Lane, will be taking part in a non-school uniform day wearing the Ark colours and will also be doing something at their sports day to raise extra funds.
Claire King, a class teacher at the school, said they have chosen to support the charity because of the benefit it could have on families and the community.
She added: “The reason we decided to take part is because of the support the centre will provide to families going through tricky times in the area. Most people within our school community have had someone close to them who has been affected by cancer and we understand the importance of the Ark Centre to provide them with the vital care they need.
“It would benefit children greatly for family members to have shorter distances to travel for treatment, but also to have somewhere they can go as a family when things get really hard to help support their mental health and wellbeing as well as physical.”
Various other schools have also signed up to take part, but there is still time for others to registerby going to arkday.co.uk/schools.
