A MAN is in a serious but stable condition after being stabbed nine minutes after another man was fatally wounded.
The ambulance service was called to a man with stab wounds in Normanton Road at 10.53pm on Saturday, August 31.
He was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.
The incident took place just minutes after police were called to another stabbing in nearby Shooters Way which proved to be fatal.
Police are continuing to investigate the second stabbing and believe the two incidents could potentially be related.
DCI Dave Storey from Hampshire Constabulary’s Major Crime Unit said: “We would like to reassure the public that we are treating these incidents as potentially linked and targeted events.
“There is a police cordon in place at this time and officers are carrying out house to house enquiries. Officers will also be carrying out extra patrols in the area so if you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to them.
“If you were in the vicinity last night and if you saw or heard anything suspicious, please get in touch by calling 101, quoting Operation Carr.
“If you were driving in the vicinity and have dash cam footage around that time, please also get in touch quoting the same reference.”
Updates as we have them.
