KEMPSHOTT could be set to gain a new supermarket.
Budget retailer Lidl has confirmed to the Gazette is it looking to open a new supermarket it Basingstoke.
One of the properties the firm is said to be interested in acquiring is the empty former Argos store at Hatch Warren Retail Park.
A spokesman for Lidl: “We are in the process of exploring various options to bring another Lidl store to Basingstoke and look forward to sharing any firm plans with the community, as soon as we’re in a position to do so.”
The former Argos store at the retail park, just off the A30 Winchester Road before it moved into Sainsburys.
There is currently no time scale on when the new tenant will be announced or opened.
