A TALENTED young illustrator is set to open a new shop in Basingstoke after being inspired to draw during a stay in hospital.
Laura Fisher will open her new shop at Viables Craft Centre next week, specialising in bespoke artwork, top quality homeware and design services.
The 20-year-old from Basingstoke, who works in IT, said it was during a period of boredom that she re-discovered her creative side.
“During a period of sickness, I rediscovered my passion for art and design,” she explained, adding: “I decided to try something new and started producing digital art. Since then my work has been featured in That Gallery and I have worked with some amazing clients.”
She added: “I started making my illustrations into homeware and offering a design service. I have received lots of commissions from people ordering illustrations of their homes, wedding venues, business branding and many other personalised works. It started off with family and friends and has rapidly grown from there.”
Laura’s homeware designs are influenced by her countryside upbringing, and are full of colour and detail.
She is now studying for a masters with Falmouth University which will take two years to complete through online learning.
Excited about her new career path, Laura said: “It’s really nerve-wrecking opening my own shop but I am extremely excited. I have had such positive feedback so far and I have many plans for the design service sector of my business.
Laura Fisher Illustrations official launch party will take place on September 28 at Viables Craft Centre. For more information visit laurafisherillustrations.co.uk.
