OVERTON resident and BBC sports report Mike Bushell had Strictly Come Dancing fans hearts racing, but not for the right reasons.
The 53-year-old with his professional dance partner Katya Jones performed American Smooth to Rhinestone Cowboy, on the hit Saturday night show.
However, the pair had judges and views alike holding their breath as they went through the “risky routine”.
Bushell delivered a number of impressive lifts with Katya, 30, but at one point, it looked as if he might drop her, leaving fans on the edges of their seats.
After the heart in mouth moment judge Bruno Tonioli described the routine as “like a psychotic cliffhanger” add: “No more of this, I don't think I can take it"
"A bit of dancing next time, don't go for full horror."
Following the routine, host Tess Daly declared that it was 'a very brave routine' to attempt in week two.
There was mixed reaction to the routine online as well as one person on Twitter posted: Katya Jones is amazing... She does everything to give her partners great dances. She deserves a proper ability partner next year."
Another posted: “Genuinely couldn’t tell if Mike Bushell was going to drop Katya or not because she's that good.”
With one Twitter user joking: “Can I open my eyes.”
However, the Overton’s residents efforts were good enough to keep him in the show for another week as double Olympic gold medallist James Cracknel was the first competitor to leave the show.
