The Labour candidate in Basingstoke says she fear for disabled people under the new government.
In a tweet, Kerena Marchant said: "I’d like to thank you all for supporting my campaign. I’m sorry we didn’t get the result we wanted. I want to thank everybody from Basingstoke Labour who worked so hard on the campaign in different ways."
"I really fear for the future of the Disabled Community under this extreme right wing Government.
"Already 250,000 people have died from austerity. This figure will rise over the next 5 years. Loss of jobs, independence and poverty.

"I will continue to fight for disabled people and those who are the victims of austerity or the brunt of the rising cult of hatred that this right wing government is fostering.
"I began the fight for disabled civil rights back in the late 1980s, and it continues."
