A ROAD in Basingstoke is currently closed after a "serious accident" involving a car and a motorbike.
The incident happened this evening (Thursday) in Popley Way, near Abbey Road.
Police, ambulance and fire service are reported to be at the scene.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescure were called by the ambulance service at 6.37pm.
Hampshire Constabulary and South Central Ambulance Service have also been contacted.
Residents have spoke of disruption and tailbacks affecting the area.
One person wrote on social media: "Finally almost home after being caught up in the tailback after a nasty accident involving a car and a motorcycle on Popley Way.
"It looks nasty with lots of emergency vehicles in attendance."
Another added: "Avoid Popley Way tonight people. Huge accident at the bottom of abbey road by the church and road has been closed."
Stagecoach South have also reported severe delays to their Number 4 and 5 services as a result of the incident.
