OFFICERS expect a Basingstoke road to remain closed for "some time" whilst emergency services attend the scene of a crash.
The incident took place in Popley Way, near Abbey Road. It is believed to have happened at around 6.30pm this evening (Thursday) and involved a car and a motorbike.
Police, ambulance and fire service are reported to be at the scene, with a spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue noting they were called by the ambulance service at 6.37pm.
Hampshire Constabulary has since confirmed via its Twitter page that officers remain on the scene, whilst advising locals avoid the area.
The post read: "We are currently on scene at a Road Traffic Collision on Popley Way in Basingstoke.
"We have closed the road whilst emergency services are in attendance and the road is likely to remain closed for some time.
"Please avoid the area and check for local diversions."
Updates as we have them.
