TRIBUTE acts from across the world could be heading to Basingstoke next year for a weekend festival in War Memorial Park, however a premises licence is yet to be granted.

Run by Starlight Concerts, The Legends Festival will see acts who have performed in the West End, Broadway and around the globe entertain crowds in the town centre park over two days on September 4 and 5, 2021.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council said the organisers have provisionally booked the date, but the festival going ahead is subject to a premises licence being submitted and approved.

Tickets are already on sale.

The line-up includes tributes acts singing songs by Queen, Take That, Ed Sheeran, The Rolling Stones, Elton John and Tina Turner.

Headlining on the Saturday is UK Queen, whose front man Alexander Koronka has performed as Freddie Mercury for more than a decade to audiences across the world.

On Sunday Absolute Bowie - winner of the Best Bowie Tribute - will take to the stage, having toured for the last 12 years.

He will be joined by Totally Tina, who won the National Tribute Music Awards 2018.

Now touring theatres across the UK, US and Europe, Totally Tina will take the audience back to the early years with songs including River Deep Mountain High, through to Tina's solo comeback in the 80s with hits such as Simply the Best and What's Love Got to do With It.

Early bird tickets are now on sale and are being offered at a discounted price of £45 for the weekend or £25 for one day, with a limited number of children's tickets available for £1.

Those attending will be allowed to bring a picnic to the event, although alcohol is not permitted to be brought on site, and can instead be bought from a licenced bar.
