Saturday will mark the one year anniversary of the tragic death of PC Andrew Harper.

To commorate Basingstokes Up & Running staff will be running the distance of PC Harper’s badge number (7605) in memory of him.

They are encouraging the public to join the run in virtually to remember PC Harper.

They want Basingstoke residents to share photos of them running either 7.605 miles or 7.605k between Friday 14th and Monday 17th August.

Last year almost 5000 people across the UK joined in on a similar run and raised £24,000 for charity.

PC Andrew Harper was killed last year while attending a reported burglary in Berkshire.

A minutes silence was held at 11am this morning at memorial services in Thames Valley as 20 officers gathered at a time outside Newbury Police Station for two socially distanced memorials.

The 28-year-old police officer died after he was dragged along a road by a vehicle.

Three teenagers - Henry Long, 19, Jessie Cole 18 and Albert Bowers 18, were found not guilty of murder on July 24 but all three were convicted of manslaughter.

The widow of PC Andrew Harper has since launching a campaign for 'Andrew’s Law' which would see criminals convicted of killing emergency services workers spend the rest of their lives in jail.
