FIVE Basingstoke ladies have achieved their weight loss targets during lockdown.
Maria, Bella, Wenda, Ruth and Sue have shed the pounds they need to become lifetime target members of Slimming World.
Cake baker, Bella, has lost 1 stone 7lbs, and admits that without the support of her consultant Natalia at Oakridge and Viables, she would have struggled to achieve her weight loss target.
Speaking about her Slimming World journey, Bella said: “I have lost weight previously and then gained it again, the thing that really works for me is getting the support and ideas from group.
“No matter what the scales may say, I always leave group feeling positive and that is what has kept me going.”
Target member, Wenda, said her key to success in shedding one stone has been embracing exercise before and during lockdown.
Her fitness plan has involved doing sit up challenges, running and taking up roller skating.
Known for being a sweet tooth expert in group, Wenda said: “I love thinking of fun ways to enjoy the flavours that I like whilst still losing weight.”
NHS worker, Maria, has faced challenges in her job and found lockdown particularly stressful.
Sharing her weight loss difficulties, Maria said: “Because of the amount of hours we were working, I was often tired and just fancied a hearty pasta dish when I got home, which you can have on Slimming World and one of the reasons I love it so much.
“The fact that it fits in so well with my vegan diet really helped me lose 3 stone 7lbs.
“The offer of free membership to NHS staff during lockdown was a bonus too! Thank you, Slimming World!”
Marathon runner, Ruth, has completed transformed her eating habits and managed to lose a whopping 10 stone and 3 ½ lbs in Pat’s Kempshott group.
Speaking about her success on the scales, Ruth said: “I was pleasantly surprised by how much you can eat on the Slimming World plan.
“I was pleased when I found out that no foods were off limit, it was all about healthy eating and enjoying treats in moderation.
“The longer I stuck to the eating plan the more the results showed on the scales.”
And target member, Sue, who joined last August has lost over 2 stone and 7lbs after seeing a photo her son took of her whilst on holiday.
She was mortified about how much weight she had gained and saw an advert in The Gazette for a group at Melrose Hall in Popley being run by a new consultant Diane and decided to sign up.
Sue said: “The group helped with lots of tips and when we went into lockdown, we continued to meet through Zoom, to stay motivated.”
“Diane is an excellent consultant and encouraged us not to give up.
“I feel amazing, having achieved my dream target weight during lockdown, I will continue to go to my group, so I don’t slip back to my old ways.
“With Slimming World, you never feel hungry as there is such a big choice of food that you can have without having to weigh or measure, and nothing is forbidden.
“I would definitely recommend it to anyone wishing to lose weight.”
Speaking about the ladies overall weight loss achievements, consultant Natalie said: “It’s lovely to help people achieve their dreams.
“The absolute best thing is the confidence that is clearly visible in these ladies now they are at their target weight.
“I’m so pleased for all of them and so proud of them for continuing with their weight loss even during such difficult times.”
And consultant Pat, added: “It has been an absolute pleasure to support Ruth to lose over 50 per cent of her starting weight, she continues to inspire people at our group.
“All these ladies have transformed their health and well-being through discovering healthy eating that fits in with their lifestyles which is why the losses will be sustainable into the future - we are looking forward to celebrating them being diamond target members this time next year!”
