POLICE officers at Basingstoke station are sending out a plea to parents after splitting up a mass gathering this evening.
In a social media post, the team said they had dispersed a group of around 50 teenagers near Hatch Warren Community Centre on Long Cross Lane.
The message, posted at about 10pm, read: “Tonight, our Neighbourhood team are dispersing approximately 50 teenagers around the Hatch Warren Community Centre.
“As cases of Coronavirus rise again, can I please ask parents to help your communities by making sure you know where your children are #StayAlert.”
The number of coronavirus cases in Hampshire has risen by 28 in the past 24 hours, and the UK R (reproduction) number has now increased to above 1 for the first time since March.
