EMERGENCY services closed Beggarwood Lane this evening due to a two vehicle crash.

A number of fire engines, ambulances and police cars were spotted rushing to the scene.

The road was closed near Broadmere Road.

At 22:45, a Hampshire Fire and Rescue Spokesperson said: “Three fire engines from Basingstoke are currently in attendance at Beggarwood Lane where there has been an RTC involving two cars. The call came in at 22:12. That’s all the information I am at liberty to pass on at this time.”

One resident in the area said: "I'm surprised I didn't hear anything. I was lying in bed on the phone and the first I knew of it was seeing the flashing blue lights. I hope they're okay."

Fire crews were recalled from the scene at 11.33pm, the spokesperson for HFRS confirmed.

But police remained on the road at that time, which was still closed due to a large amount of debris

At 12:01am, an update from fire brigade was released: "There were two casulaties that were given care between the fire service and ambulance crews."
