THE OPENING date of Basingstoke's newest supermarket has been revealed.
Lidl are currently refitting the old Argos store in Hatch Warren Retail Park.
Work has been ongoing since the summer to refit the store which was vacated when Argos moved into Sainsbury's and Dreams moved to the empty store next door.
They have combined units one and two of the retail park to create a new superstore - the German retail chain's third in Basingstoke.
And now, it has been revealed that the supermarket will open next week.
Bosses at the chain have confirmed that Lidl Hatch Warren will open at 8am on Thursday, December 3.
They first declared their interest in the site in September last year, and in March had planning permission granted.
In August, they confirmed their intention to open the store before Christmas, saying: "There’s been much anticipation for this new Lidl store and it’s great that we are now in a position to start the store fit out."
Lidl GB’s regional head of property, James Mitchell, continued: "We are extremely grateful for all the support that we have received so far and would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding whilst we enter this next phase of the development.”
The new store is expected to bring 1,208sqm of sales area and 40 jobs to the area.
Lidl also have stores at West Ham roundabout and Chineham.
