A BASINGSTOKE care home is among the first to see its residents receive the new coronavirus vaccine - a moment described as a 'light at the end of the tunnel' after a tough 2020.
Doctors from The Chineham Medical Practice visited Marnel Lodge , Popley WAy, on New Year's Day to administer the vaccine.
Sebastian Wiencelewski, manager, said: “We had a year like no other in 2020 and the vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel. Our teams have been magnificent in how they have risen to every challenge during this pandemic and we are proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected.”
Employee Peter, who led the way of vaccination program at home, said: “We are so pleased to be given the vaccine. It will help to keep everyone safe, and is the first step in getting things back to usual, and having a buzz of visitors in the home once again.
He added: "We are welcoming new residents into our homes to ensure that we are there for those that need care and support, and have a very clear protocols that must be met including a transition period into our home to help keep everyone safe."
